Mind-tickling images, rhythms that rest on the retina

Video and Installation artist, VGem (aka Gemma Riggs) started experimenting with the tactile delights of cine film during her early days at Wimbledon School of Art. Inspired very much by the heroes of early cinema, she uses film in a fluid and rhythmical way, exploiting the editing process to bring weird and wonderful results.

Thriving off the immediacy of live events she has produced and mixed visuals for artists including Mos Def, DJ Krush, Bonobo and DJ Vadim at London venues such as Koko, Cargo and the Big Chill House. She is also resident VJ for the all-girl soundsystem Daft Pink.
